This Unilock Brick Paver Patio in Huntley, IL was over 15 years old and in overall pretty good condition. There was some slight settling along the edge where retaining wall blocks were used to transition to the sloped lawn. Settling of brick pavers where they meet up with retaining wall block is pretty common and something crews at Paver Protector often repair. To relevel that area the pavers need to be removed far enough back to maintain a negative slope allowing water to drain off the edge of the patio. To raise the pavers Paver Protector uses limestone chips which provide solid support without washing out like traditional torpedo sand does.
In this photo you can see where Paver Protector removed some of the Unilock brick pavers to allow for additional base to be installed to relevel the bricks along the retaining wall edge.
Once repaired Paver Protector Pressure Washed the patio with 200 degree water to kill and remove mold, moss, dirt and stains. The existing joint sand is also blown out with the use of a special rotating nozzle on the pressure washer. This makes room for new, clean polymeric joint sand to be installed the following day once dry. After polymeric joint sand is installed this Huntley patio then received 2 coats of Paver Protector Wet Look Brick Paver Sealer. As you can see the wet look sealer darkens and enhances the color just like when the patio is wet or in the rain. The finish is a matte or very low gloss depending on the porosity of the brick pavers. This is not a shiny sealer.
In the photo below you will see the patio shortly after being sealed with wet look sealer. The white areas are where the sealer has not cured yet. The rest of the patio is the look the sealer gives when cured. Paver Protector wet look sealer normally cures within a few hours.
